Attention Profiler does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your data. Everything it records stays on your own device.
What the extension stores
To build your profile, the extension records, locally only, basic facts about videos you watch while it is enabled:
video ID and title, and the channel name (when visible on the page)
whether it's a regular video or a Short
how much of it you watched, where you dropped off, and whether you finished
playback speed, pause count, and how long you were actively watching
the time you started and ended watching
This is saved with the browser's chrome.storage API and is used solely to compute the stats, predictions, badges, and trends shown inside the extension.
What the extension does NOT do
It does not send any data off your device.
It does not use remote servers, cloud storage, or external APIs.
It does not include analytics, tracking, or advertising.
It does not collect names, emails, passwords, or payment details.
It does not read pages other than YouTube.
Permissions and why they're needed
storage — to save your watching stats locally on your device.
alarms — to periodically summarise your daily stats in the background so long-term trends survive.
access to youtube.com — to read the page you are actively watching so the extension can compute your stats and show its on-page panels. This is limited to YouTube; the extension cannot see any other site.
Your control over your data
Export: the dashboard's "Export my data" button downloads everything as a JSON file.
Delete: the "Delete all" button permanently erases all stored data. Uninstalling the extension also removes its data.
Children
The extension is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children.
Changes
